Away from home

Remote access: your home from anywhere

Switch the heating on before you arrive, check the cameras on holiday, see that the garage door is closed. Remote access is optional, and it is built so that your home’s information never has to be stored on our side.

Away from home, your request goes through a secure connection to your own boxYour phone outside the house sends a request to the Fradomos cloud. Your box in the house keeps an outgoing secure connection open to the cloud. The request passes through to your box, the box checks your password and permissions, and the answer travels back. The cloud stores nothing about the content.Your phoneaway from homeFRADOMOS CLOUDPasses your request onstores nothing from your homenever sees your passwordYOUR HOMEFradomos boxchecks who you aresecure (https)home opens itThe box dials out. Nobody can dial in to your home.
  1. Your box calls us — not the other way round

When remote access is on, your box opens an outgoing, encrypted connection to the Fradomos cloud and keeps it open. Because the connection starts from inside your home, you do not open anything on your router, and nobody on the internet can reach your home directly.

  2. You sign in from outside

In the app, away from home, you type your name and password. If you turned on the second step, you also enter a code from your authenticator app.

  3. The cloud passes your request on

Our cloud finds your box and hands your request through the connection that the box opened. It does not read, change or keep it.

  4. Your box decides

It checks your password and what you are allowed to do away from home (this is set per room, separately from at home), does what you asked, and sends the answer back the same way.

You stay in control

Safe by design

Passwords stay home

They are checked by your box. They pass through the cloud’s memory while you sign in and are never stored or written down.

A second step if you like

Each person can add a code from an authenticator app. The house admin can make it required for everybody who signs in from outside.

You see everything

A list of every phone and computer signed in remotely, when it was last used, and a button to end any of them at once.

An off switch

The house admin can turn remote access off at any time — even from outside — and everybody is signed out.

Own rights away from home

A guest may switch the living room at home, and only look at it when away. You decide per person and per room.

Encrypted all the way

Every step uses encrypted connections (https). Camera pictures only pass through while you watch and are not recorded.

What you need

  • Your Fradomos box connected to the internet at home.
  • A plan for your home (there is a free trial). One plan covers everybody who lives there.
  • The Fradomos app on your phone, or the web page for remote access.

Step by step: Use Fradomos away from home, Choose a plan, Switch it off.

Questions

About remote access

Is it safe to reach my home from outside?

Your home is never opened to the internet. Your box makes an outgoing, encrypted connection to us, and it is your box that checks your password and permissions on every request. You can add a second step to the sign-in, and see and end every signed-in phone.

Does Fradomos store my information in the cloud?

No. The cloud keeps a small registry (that your home exists, who may connect from outside, and whether your plan is active). Your devices, schedules, sensor readings and passwords stay in your box. Live camera pictures are passed on while you watch and are not recorded.

What if I do not pay?

Everything at home keeps working. Only access from outside stops, until you have an active plan again.

Can I switch it off?

Yes, at any time, even from outside: More → House settings → Remote access → Turn off. It also ends all remote sign-ins.

Do I need to change my router settings?

No. No port forwarding, no fixed address, no special router.
